About Me

I’m Ames. I am white, queer, non-binary/ trans and social justice oriented. My counseling practice is focused on providing gender affirming and trauma informed care to those embarking on a journey related to gender and sexuality identity exploration or interested in working on trauma or abuse history. Our work together will focus both on development of coping skills to navigate daily stressors and triggers and, at times, will look back to experiences from the past that influence your life and relationships.

I have been a therapist for over 10 years, working in a variety of settings from inpatient hospitals to community mental health clinics.  I graduated from Drexel University's Master of Arts in Creative Arts Therapy with a concentration in Dance/ Movement Therapy in 2013.  Prior to getting my Master's degree I worked in a variety of jobs and settings related to dance and the arts, finance/ administration, as well as personal training and group fitness.  I feel that the broad range of life and work experiences prior to focusing on creative healing work has been an enormous support to my counseling practice.  Additionally I have completed 250 yoga teacher training and EMDR basic training.  I have a Certificate in Gender Affirming Care for Transgender Communities from Widener University.
